Back on Saturday, December 26, 2020, I posted a Songs For Saturday featuring performances by Roxy Music, Blondie and 10,000 Maniacs.
All performing the same song, "More Than This".
Well, I'm doing it again: three performances but one song.
Queen released "Don't Stop Me Now" back in January 1979. It was a fairly decent hit at the time but the song has only grown in popularity over the last 4 decades.
Here is the single that started it all with Freddie Mercury's matchless vocals propelling Queen through the stratosphere with "Don't Stop Me Now".
A few years ago, a version of "Don't Stop Me Now" turned up in a most unusual setting, in a episode of Doctor Who, specifically the episode "Mummy on the Orient Express". With a slinky, sexy jazzy take on the Queen classic is Foxes.
Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" is never far from my rotation of favorite songs but what recently pushed it back to the forefront of my consciousness is when I stumbled across this video clip. It starts off small, one man at a piano then bit by bit this performance explodes in something wonderful, almost magical.
That is that for this week's Songs For Saturday. Remember to always be good to one another and don't stop me now from keeping the music alive.
