Among the flurry of questionable things Donald Trump did on his first day back as President was the blanket pardons for the January 6th rioters.
Or as he calls them, "the J6 Hostages".
There was some consternation behind the scenes among Trump's staff on separating the non-violent offenders from the those convicted of violent crimes.
The ever erudite Trump solved this dilemma with this pithy assessment: "Fuck it! Release all of them!"
Apparently there were Republicans in Congress who were shocked he did that.
Shocked? Really? What would have been shocking if Li'l Donnie had actually applied some kind of nuance to the pardoning of his beloved "hostages".
I'm sure Trump does not know the meaning of the word "nuance". And many, many other words.
When pressed for why his pardons included individuals who had violently attacked police officers on that day, Trump rattled off a word salad response with false claims about murderers never being charged in blue cities and false allegations about the George Floyd protests and Joe Biden did much worse and blah blah blah.
This motherfucker has only been back in office for 4 days. I don't think I can take 4 years.
Meanwhile, I wonder what he will have to say about Pamela Hemphill, a person who served jail time for her role in the events of January 6th and whose response to Trump's pardon is... "pass".
Here is what Pamela Hemphill had to say about Trump's pardon:
"Accepting a pardon would only insult the Capitol police officers, rule of law and, of course, our nation. I pleaded guilty because I was guilty, and accepting a pardon also would serve to contribute to their gas lighting and false narrative. Trump is trying to rewrite history and I don't want to be part of that. We were wrong that day, we broke the law - there should be no pardons."
"We were wrong that day," said this former MAGA and Trump supporter.
Trump does not understand concepts of responsibilities and consequences. I'm sure Pamela Hemphill's words would mean nothing to him.
