Greta Thunberg: Person of the Year

Congratulations to Greta Thunberg for being named Time magazine’s  Person of the Year, the youngest person ever to receive that honor.

I think that Greta is an inspired choice for this honor from Time. She is a tireless advocate for bringing attention to the very real calamities of climate change  and a strong and passionate supporter for efforts to save our planet by taking real and effective action to reverse the effects of climate change.

Being named Time’s Person of the Year extends beyond just her as an individual but casts a bright spotlight on the vital importance of her cause.

Greta is a remarkable young woman with a keen intellect, a deep abiding passion for her work and a sharp wit, made all the more remarkable that she is has Asperger’s syndrome, a condition on the autism spectrum that can impede a person’s abilities to communicate and socially engage.

She needs all the strength her intellect, passion and wit can provide her as she faces hostility and bullying from those who doubt her mission, those who look around at this world consumed by environmental chaos and conclude there is nothing to see.

And she faces no bigger bully than Donald Trump.

Trump is a denier of climate change, dismissing the whole concept as a hoax by the Chinese to gain the upper economic hand over the United States. Donald Trump sees this world consumed by environmental chaos and concludes there is nothing to see.

And he holds Greta Thunberg in contempt. Especially when she usurps attention away from him.

Li’l Donnie thinks that Time should’ve made him Person of the Year.  And why shouldn’t he be when he’s at the center of everything and everything is good and everything is good because Donald Trump made it so.

So he goes on Twitter and bullies Greta Thunberg.

Greta, for her part, simply reposts Trump’s insults as positive attributes on her Twitter profile.

Greta has been castigated for her beliefs and her work by a large contingent of blind morons. Trump is just one more moron sputtering under the rising tides as the ice floes melt.

Donald Trump can try to bully Greta Thunberg. Greta’s been bullied by thousands before Trump  began to notice her and Trump ain’t got nothing.

On the subject of bullying, occasionally Melania Trump’s “Be Best” campaign raises it’s hypocritical head. Melanie chose as her First Lady mission to take on bullying, especially cyberbullying and the bullying of young children.

You know, like when an elderly man goes on Twitter and makes fun of a 16 year old girl, just to pick a random example of someone cyberbullying a young person.

There have been some actual cogent and sensible statements made in support of Melania’s “Be Best” initiative but it’s all treated with total disdain when her husband is on Twitter hundreds of times of week, hurling invectives and insults at a wide range of people, including in the case of Greta Thunberg, children.

It’s hard to take seriously Melania Trump’s message of being a better person and be kind to others when her husband yells, rages and snarls insults and vulgarities at anyone he thinks has wronged him in some way.

By the way, there’s a campaign video circulating that casts Donald Trump as Thanos complete with Infinity Gauntlet, rendering a bunch of Democrats to dust. This is a pro-Trump campaign video that identifies Trump with the villain of the Avengers’ movie straight up murdering the Democratic Party.

So how’s that “Be Best” thing working out?

Donald Trump, like all stupid and insecure people, is a straight up bully.

Thankfully, Greta Thunberg is made of stronger stuff.

Way to go, Greta, Person of the Year!
