Hi! Dave-El here and after being back at the blog thing only a week, I'm already up against the dreaded deadline doom so not a lot to cover for today's Doctor Who Weekend installment.
I did want to share the drawing that I found on Twitter. It is a beautifully illustrated rendition of the Idris, the female form of the TARDIS from "The Doctor's Wife", running away with the First Doctor.
Click here to the Tumblr link for this illustration.
This illustration is masterful at capturing the essence of Idris' comments. Notice that it's Idris guiding a somewhat startled Doctor as they head forth to...everywhere.
Whether the Doctor stole a TARDIS or the TARDIS stole him, ultimately the two are the ultimate companions to each other. There's a reason the 11th Doctor episode featuring Idris is called "The Doctor's WIFE". More so than River Song or Rose Tyler or any woman of mere flesh and blood, the Doctor cares for the TARDIS and the TARDIS takes care of the Doctor. The ultimate love story, a man and his machine.
See you next time with a little more in depth post. Until then, be good to one another.
Dave-El
