Trump
spent a lot of time during the last presidential campaign hurling lots of shit
at Hillary Clinton including accusations and insinuations relating to her
health.
The
pot tried to call the kettle black as questions about Trump’s own health were
raised. As he did with his tax returns, Trump played dodge ball on producing
anything resembling an actual medical report until his campaign released a
letter signed by his personal physician Dr. Harold Bornstein.
The
letter included such statements as:
- “Mr. Trump has had a recent complete medical examination that showed only positive results.”
- “Actually, his blood pressure, 110/65, and laboratory test results were astonishingly excellent.”
- “His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary.”
- “If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
Would
it surprise you if Bornstein claimed that Trump himself wrote that letter?
“He dictated that
whole letter. I didn’t write that letter,” Bornstein told CNN.
Let’s
see:
- only positive results
- astonishingly excellent
- extraordinary
- healthiest individual ever
Well,
it sounds so… Trumpian, doesn’t it?
OK,
I’m not sure how reliable Dr. Bornstein is as a source for anything but damn,
it sounds true to how Li’l Donnie does things.
Bornstein
has also been back in the news this week after he told NBC News about a raid on his office in search of
medical records in 2017. This “raid” was conducted by Keith Schiller, a White
House aide and Trump’s longtime personal bodyguard, Trump Organization chief
legal officer Alan Garten and an unidentified “large man”.
White
House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders reported that the raid was not a
raid, just a standard procedure
collection of records usually conducted for a newly elected president.
Since
Sanders said it, my first inclination is to think yes, it was a raid and no, it’s
not standard procedure. OK hell, it is possible Sanders is telling the truth
but it is very hard to trust her.
Also,
Schiller, Garten and the unidentified “large man” reportedly told Bornstein to
take down a framed photo of Trump and Bornstein from a wall in the waiting
room. “Standard procedure”, I’m sure.
Again,
is Dr. Bornstein a reliable source? There’s a lot about this character is
questionable and anything he says should be taken with a whole shaker of salt.
But damn, all this sounds so… just like Trump.
Maybe
Dr. Bornstein is not a reliable source.
But then again, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is also
not a reliable source. And neither is Li’l Donnie Trump.
