He Decided He Would Become a Bat

There is real suffering in this world and there is nothing amusing about that.

But there is something else in the world that we tend to forget: hope.

And today we find hope in a 5 year old boy named Miles Scott; Miles has been battling leukemia that is, thankfully, currently in remission. But at 5 years old, Miles has endured more pain and demonstrated more strength in the face of that pain than many grown ups 10 times his age or more.

So if anyone deserved to have a wish come true, it was Miles. And what was his wish? Miles wanted to be his favorite super-hero.

Miles Scott wanted to be Batman.

Through the Make a Wish Foundation, we saw the kind of miracle that occurs when people pull together with love and imagination.

Miles Scott got his wish in a very big and amazing way.

Young Miles thought he would receive a costume but what he got was so much more.

Yes, he got the costume. But Miles Scott became... Batkid, a new partner to the Caped Crusader himself. Batkid went out to save the day with Batman. And the city of San Francisco played a part by becoming Gotham City.

rescues world from cynicism

Batkid with his hero Batman by his side saved Gotham from various dangers posed by Batman's nefarious villains. Gotham cheered as Batkid received a warm and grateful hug from a woman he saved.

Batkid received the Key To The City from an appreciative Mayor for his heroic acts.

Gotham's newspaper quickly went to press to extol the brave actions of its young hero.

And the citizens of Gotham cheered their thanks and appreciation for the heroism of Batkid.

Way to go, Batkid! You saved Gotham!

Way to go, Miles Scott! You are an inspiration to so many people today!

Good luck, Miles. And God bless.
