Fox News Facts

Earlier this week, a talking head on Fox News said that Birmingham (the one in England, not in Alabama) was an entirely Muslim city and non-Muslims were afraid to go there. Which came as a surprise to predominantly not-Muslim population of Birmingham. 

The reaction to this was swift. Immediately the hashtag #foxnewsfacts popped up on Twitter and suddenly everybody is in the game of coming up with new "facts" that could be used on Fox News. 

Here's my list.

Now here's the thing: Fox News doesn't care. Fox has been shilling their snake oil for years and so far as not suffered any ill effects. In fact, their ratings for 2014 were higher than ever. It's blatant one-sided appeal to fear and anger makes money, dammit! So what if some talking head claims a city in Birmingham is all Muslim? For Fox's target audience, it's what they expect to hear, even want to hear. "Yep, I knew them there Muslims was takin' over the world! And it's probably Obama's doin'!"
