Doctor Who Week: The Countdown Begins

Hi there! Dave-El here and welcome to I'm So Glad My Suffering Amuses You, your internet source for organic free-range Cheese Whiz

I'm actually taking a bit of a break from the blog this week with some pre-prepared posts with the theme of Doctor Who Week. (Except for Wednesday or Thursday, I'll post on seeing Dark Water/Death In Heaven in the movie theater...in 3-D!)

The big premier for Doctor Who Series 9 is this Saturday, September 19th and the El family have already secured our seats at Geeksboro Coffeehouse and Cinema to watch The Magician's Apprentice in the company of fellow Whovians.  It's always a lot of fun to watch these new episodes in the company of other Doctor Who fans. And I have to get my fave beverage, the peach smoothie.

The last few years have been marked by changes and transitions in Doctor Who. 2012 said farewell to Amy and Rory and 2013 saw the arrival of Clara as the new companion. 2013 saw the exit of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor and 2014 introduced us to Peter Capaldi as the 12th.

This year sees a stable cast with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in place as the Doctor and Clara for a 2nd year in a row. So this actual lack of change is unusual for Doctor Who fans.

There also seems to be a rather effective cone of silence over the whole Series 9 production. The unfortunate leaks that came out in advance of Series 8 do not seem to have occurred this year. At least, if anybody knows anything, I'm out of the loop. Which is good by me. I really like to be as surprised as possible when going into new episodes of Doctor Who. And those surprises will start to make themselves known soon enough...in five days

The countdown begins....
