The storm that was Michael passed over the Fortress of Ineptitude with no damage.
Although there are a lot of fairly large tree limbs in the front yard. While the eye wall passed over, we were inundated with a lot of water forming a river in our backyard and puddled up precariously close to the front step of the Fortress. We do not live in a flood plain so seeing water "pile up" like that was a bit nerve racking.
Still, we were lucky here at the Fortress.
Elsewhere in the surrounding environs, others were not so lucky with trees down, standing flood waters and power outages.
Further south, others faced even greater misfortune.
Places along the Florida panhandle like Mexico Beach are facing devastation that has been described as "apocalyptic".
Whatever one's personal experience, we must be mindful that what what others experience can be different. I am grateful and feel blessed that we skirted the edge of the storm unharmed. Others are less fortunate. Others have lost homes, livelihoods and even lives.
