I have a favorite snarky comeback for anyone who wishes me a good morning.
"I will only concede that it is indeed morning."
Good morning?
"I will only concede that it is indeed morning."
Good? Oh hell no!
Problem one: the country is determined to tear itself apart over the results of our Presidential election.
Donald McFucknugget Trump continues to rant and rave like a goddam lunatic that the election is rigged and he really won it and blah blah blah.
Oh, can't someone put this damn baby to bed?
And his supporters are still riled up about it.
Virginia Wesleyan University business professor and dean Paul Ewell wrote that anyone who chose Biden for president is “ignorant, anti-American and anti-Christian.”
Trump retweeted this offensive post with a one word comment, "Progress!"
Some Trump supporters gathered in Washington on Saturday for the “Million MAGA March." White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany claimed “more than one million" were in attendance. Li'l Donnie proffered up a more modest number of hundreds of thousands of supporters.
Exact numbers are not available but local authorities estimate about 10,000 or so.
What the gathering lacked in actual numbers, they more than made for in ignorant rage, angrily parroting back Trump's unsupported talking points of rigged elections and fraudulent votes and a stolen second term for Donald Trump.
Many of those in attendance were people associated with extremist groups linked to white supremacist ideology and violence.
While Li'l Donnie rants and rages over his perceived grievances of a stolen election, Trump's lawyers are running into significant obstacles in the courts.
Trump's lawyers are bringing forth their client's allegations of election malfeasance before a variety of judges. These judges remain wholly unimpressed by Trump's lawyers lacking any actual evidence to support their client's allegations of election malfeasance.
With judge after judge sending Trump's lawyers packing in the absence of any actual evidence of wide scale election fraud, Trump's efforts to litigate the election returns are meeting with failure.
Apparently the next course of action being considered is to get Republican state legislatures to force electoral college electors to switch from Biden in the states where he won to Trump.
Can they do that?
The answer seems to be likely no, they cannot.
There does seem to be some grudging acceptance from a small number of Republicans that the gig is up and Biden won this damn thing and let's just move on with our lives.
So far, Trump and his loyal toadies would rather see the country burn than to admit defeat.
And speaking of the country burning:
Problem two: the country is determined to kill itself with COVID-19.
The United States currently as 11,036,935 cases with a death toll of 246,214.
The coronavirus pandemic in the United States is getting worse, not better.
“The next three to four months are going to be, by far, the darkest of the pandemic,” said Michael Osterholm, an infectious disease expert at the University of Minnesota and a member of Joe Biden's pandemic advisory board.
In response to the worsening pandemic, several states are tightening restrictions on gatherings and other efforts to try and mitigate the spread of this disease.
Dr. Scott Atlas, a member of Trump's coronavirus task force, said people should "rise up" against such restrictions.
Good morning?
Good? Oh hell no! Morning? It feels like we're caught in the pitch black abyss of despair.
"I can't even concede that it is indeed morning."
