The Coronavirus Is Still a Thing

The coronavirus pandemic that hit the United States hard about 10 months ago continues to be a thing.

In fact, coronavirus pandemic is now more of a thing with several states seeing large spikes in new cases of COVID-19 and the death toll keeps rising.

Before the election, Donald Trump complained at this circle jerk rallies that the media didn't want to talk about anything other than "COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID!"  Trump was clearly annoyed and bored by the topic of a killer virus that has ravaged the United States.

Claiming coverage of the pandemic was just a stunt to hurt his re-election chances, Trump remarked that as of November 4th, nobody would be talking about COVID anymore.

Yep, we're still talking about it. It is still a thing.

And it is a thing here in the Fortress of Ineptitude.

My daughter Randie had a co-worker had been exposed to someone with COVID-19. This co-worker took a test but decided to go to work anyway despite not knowing the results of the test.

The test came back positive.

The upshot of this now is Randie's job is closed down for 2 weeks, no one is working or getting paid. Randie self quarantined herself while awaiting results of her own test.

All because of the selfish, reckless stupidity of Randie's co-worker.

Fortunately, we didn't have to wait more than a day and the news was good: our daughter tested negative for COVID-19.

I could take a page from Donald Trump's book and assume that because the news is good for us, think that COVID-19 is not that big of a deal.

Unlike Li'l Donnie, I know that the world exists beyond my own experience. I know there are over a quarter of a million of my fellow Americans dead from this disease. I know that millions more have this virus and are suffering from it.

I count our experience as proof of our good fortune, not proof of the coronavirus is not really a thing.

Sadly, after all these months, the coronavirus is still a thing.
