Today's Songs For Saturday spotlights some of my favorite music when you strip things down to it's simplest terms, just a dude with a guitar.
Our first song is a surprising performance I ran across recently. Rick Astley (yes, the "I'm Never Going to Give You Up" guy, the "Rick Roll" guy) takes up his acoustic guitar to shred through a cover of "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters.
Next up is a haunting performance of "Love Is Blindness" by U2. U2's guitarist the Edge provides the vocals from this stripped down version of this ballad.
For a guitarist, the Edge is also a very good vocalist.
For a vocalist, Bono is (ahem!) an adequate guitarist.
Last week's Songs For Saturday featured "Uma Thurman" by Fall Out Boy. This week, here is "Uma Thurman" again but this time performed by the group's lead singer Patrick Stump all by himself, accompanied only by this guitar.
