Songs For Saturday: A Dude With a Guitar featuring Rick Astley, U2's Bono and the Edge and Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump

Today's Songs For Saturday spotlights some of my favorite music when you strip things down to it's simplest terms, just a dude with a guitar.

Our first song is a surprising performance I ran across recently. Rick Astley (yes, the "I'm Never Going to Give You Up" guy, the "Rick Roll" guy) takes up his acoustic guitar to shred through a cover of "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters.

Next up is a haunting performance of "Love Is Blindness" by U2. U2's guitarist the Edge provides the vocals from this stripped down version of this ballad.

Here is another from U2's Achtung Baby album. This time our solo dude is U2 vocalist Bono flailing away at his guitar for a raw take on "The Fly".

For a guitarist, the Edge is also a very good vocalist.

For a vocalist, Bono is (ahem!) an adequate guitarist.

Last week's Songs For Saturday featured "Uma Thurman" by Fall Out Boy. This week, here is "Uma Thurman" again but this time performed by the group's lead singer Patrick Stump all by himself, accompanied only by this guitar.

That is as they is that for this week's Songs For Saturday.

Until next time, stay safe, remember to be good to one another and to always keep the music alive.
