Doctor Who: Class Is Ready For School

"You remind me of a non-threatening, racially diverse cast of a CW show."
--------Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), Supergirl

The beginning of last week saw the first pics of actors ready to get started to work on a Doctor Who production. However the show is not Doctor Who and none of the actors are the Doctor or a companion.

Nope, we got our first look at the cast of the new spin off series, Class. The series takes place at Coal Hill School, first introduced way back in 1963 in the very first episode of Doctor Who and recently returned as a part of the modern series when former companion Clara Oswald began teaching there.

Steven Moffat who is an executive producer on the series describes Class as having a Buffy the Vampire Slayer sensibility, merging sci-fi with teenage drama.

The show is created and written by young adult novelist Patrick Ness. And....that's about all we know so far.

Naturally you might wonder if a certain Time Lord might show up for an appearance, maybe even as a teacher.

OK, I would not want to get stuck in this guy's math class, that's for sure.

Elsewhere at the BBC, Sherlock's long awaited 4th season began production this week with Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and the rest of the murder solving crew back in action. Moriarty is back...possibly. He's supposed to be dead, you know. Well, something is up and dead or not, if Moriarty's face is on every TV screen in the UK, it can't be good.

Except for the three highly anticipated episodes, those will be good and maybe we will hopefully get to see them sometime before the decade is out.

Back to Doctor Who and no, still no word on the companion. With news on both Class and Sherlock coming up in the same week, I imagine the Who producers are looking for a better time to have that information released all to itself. When production of the 2016 Christmas special begins in May, I expect by then the lid will have to come off.

In three weeks....

Toby Parker was 8 years old when he encountered an alien threat that should've killed him. But then he met the Doctor. And the destiny of a young boy was changed forever.

It's Episode One of a NEW fan fiction series that will begin an adventure of a lifetime.

And that's all for today. Another new post is coming up tomorrow and more Doctor Who stuff on the blog next Sunday. Until then, remember to be good to one another.
