Those Damn Emails...Again?!?

Remember back in the early days of the 2016 presidential campaign, during one of the first Democrat candidates debates, Bernie Sanders said to Hilary Clinton, “We’re sick of hearing about your damn emails!”

Over two years later, guess who isn’t sick of hearing about her damn emails? Li’l Donnie Trump who is complaining about delays by the Justice Department inspector general in releasing a report on the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.

Oh my God! When is this fershlugginer story ever going to end?

Here’s what Trump whined about Twitter.

“What is taking so long with the Inspector General’s Report on Crooked Hillary and Slippery James Comey. Numerous delays. Hope Report is not being changed and made weaker! There are so many horrible things to tell, the public has the right to know. Transparency!”

Now Trump has a couple of reasons of wanting to push attention to this report.

  1. Any excuse to berate Crooked Hillary. Yes, he beat her in 2016 and still revels in every opportunity to keep beating her.
  2. Any excuse to drive the conversation to the wrong doings of Democrats and not the “Russian witch hunt”.
  3. And then there’s James Comey.

Justice Department Inspector General report will be on the bureau’s Clinton investigation as well as then-FBI Director James Comey’s handling of it.

When Trump fired Comey last year, the first narrative presented as to why Comey was fired was Rod Rosenstein’s assessment of Comey’s handling of the Clinton investigation, specifically his decision to hold a press conference in July, 2016, where he announced that the FBI would not recommend charges for the former secretary of state and laid out the reasons why.

Afterwards, Trump told NBC News that he had the FBI’s Russia investigation on his mind when he made the decision to fire Comey.

Lately, Trump has taken to pushing the narrative that Comey’s firing had no connection to FBI’s Russia investigation and that any attempts to link the two is a product of “Fake News”. Look, we have video and audio of Li’l Donnie telling Lester Holt that Comey’s firing was due to the Russian thing. Everyone saw and heard you say that!

Calling attention to the Justice Department Inspector General report is a chance to revisit the “Comey was fired because of the Clinton thing” that was being promoted by others before Trump pissed all over it in his interview with Lester Holt.

And what’s with this whole “Hope Report is not being changed and made weaker” thing? It’s all part of Trump looking to undermine the Justice Department.

There are three possible outcomes to this report.

  1. Comey was a wuss. Clinton was guilty as sin, the FBI should’ve charged her with treason and had her shot.
  2. Comey was actually too hard on her. Clinton didn’t do nothin’ that bad.
  3. Comey maybe should’ve kept his mouth shut. Otherwise, the FBI came to the right conclusion.

Anything that is not the first outcome will be dismissed by Trump as a “weak” report and support his contention of “deep state collusion with the Democrats”.  The likely outcome will be number three which may help the pro-Trump people spin the Comey firing back to the Rosenstein memo and way from the Russia investigation. But Trump said what he said to Lester Holt.

What? Is Trump going to claim the NBC edited the video in such a way to make it look like he said what he said?

God knows Trump and his gang might go that far.
